Andrea Butler graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, with a major in textiles. While studying, she received a scholarship for high standing in academics and studio practice. Since graduating, Butler has held solo shows and has been part of several group shows. Andrea has received two Emerging Artist grants from artsnb, as well as, a Saint John Regional Grant to create three large-scale tapestries that hung on the exterior east wall of Imperial Theatre. She was one of four Canadians chosen as part of the American Tapestry Alliance Biennial 6, an international tapestry exhibition that traveled the USA. Most recently three of her tapestries were included in From Lausanne to Beijing 8th International Fiber Art Biennale in Beijing, China
A love of weaving and salvaging furniture has brought about this enthusiasm for upholstering reclaimed furniture with one-of-kind handwoven fabrics. Although it is a laborious and painstaking process, it is one that brings with it a great satisfaction! Each piece of furniture is hand-picked for quality and appeal.
