About the Artist

Andrea Butler produces distinctively upcycled pieces of furniture, handwoven/hand printed accessories, and home decor items. Her aim is to create products that are environmentally and socially conscious and encourage responsible consumption.

A love of weaving and salvaging furniture has brought about a passion for upholstering and upcycling reclaimed furniture with hand woven fabrics. The assortment of off-cut fabrics has spurred the production of limited series/ collections of smaller items in an effort to create zero waste.

Andrea graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a major in textiles. Since graduating, Butler has held many solo shows and has been part of several group shows. Andrea received a Saint John Regional Arts Grant to create three large scale tapestries that hung on the exterior east wall of Imperial Theatre. She was one of four Canadians chosen as part of the American Tapestry Biennial 6, an international exhibition that traveled the USA. Most recently Three of her tapestries were included in From Lausanne to Beijing 8th International Fiber Art Biennale in Beijing, China.
